About UptimeProject
Independent uptime measurement for cloud providers, CDNs, and developer infrastructure — Consumer Reports for hosting.
What this is
UptimeProject is an independent measurement project that tracks and publicly ranks the reliability of cloud providers, CDNs, DNS providers, object storage, developer infrastructure, email services, and payment processors. We measure the way a customer would — from outside the provider's own network, on a published cadence, with the data exposed under a permissive licence so anyone can verify it.
How it works
Five probe agents run on networks across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific, on four different providers. They execute HTTP, DNS, TLS, and storage checks at per-check cadences against 35 services — from once a minute for HTTP to once an hour for TLS. Results stream continuously to a central database. Per-minute consensus refreshes every minute; the daily availability table refreshes hourly. No provider has any influence over what we measure or how we report it.

Who built this
Built and maintained by one person, working on this in evenings and weekends. The day job is infrastructure engineering at someone else's company — this project has no connection to that. No investors, no provider affiliations, no advertising.
